Description
Check out our DIGITAL R-Controlled Spell in the Blank resource for Google Drive AND Seesaw!
Your learners don’t need their own collection of color-coded magnetic letters {vowel red, consonants blue} or a magnetic cookie sheet to spell words with short vowels and the r-controlled pattern. That’s what you can use this digital resource for!
FOUR Levels of Learning are Included:
Level 1: Short Vowels* vs. R-Controlled Vowels
For example, short a words are compared to ar words. In Level 1,
- 6 slides for a/ar
- 4 slides for e/er
- 6 slides for i/ir
- 6 slides for o/or
- 5 slides for u/ur
- 4 slides for ar/w+ar and or/w+or
Level 2: R-Controlled Vowels vs. R-Controlled Vowels
For example, ir is compared with ar. There are 10 slides total in Level 2:
- ar/or bossy r vowels (2 slides)
- ir/ar bossy r vowels (2 slides)
- or/er bossy r vowels (2 slides)
- ur/ar bossy r vowels (2 slides)
- ar/er bossy r vowels (2 slides)
Level 3: R-Controlled vs. R-Controlled Vowels with Similar Sounds
For example, ir is compared to er. There are 8 slides total in Level 3:
- er/ir bossy r vowels (2 slides)
- ir/ur bossy r vowels (2 slides)
- w+ar/or bossy r vowels (2 slides)
- w+or/ir bossy r vowels (2 slides)
Level 4: Advanced R-Controlled Vowels
Long vowel r-controlled vowels are included in this section. There are 10 slides total:
- ar/are vowels (2 slides)
- ar/air vowels (2 slides)
- ar/ear with the long a sound vowels (2 slides)
- er/ere vowels (2 slides)
- er/ere vowels (2 slides)
- er/ear vowels (2 slides)
- ir/ire vowels (2 slides)
- ur/ure vowels (2 slides)
The activities are great for phonemic awareness because they get learners to single out and listen for vowel phonemes {or sounds} in words.
