Description
If you’re working on vocabulary with your learners, you’ll want to check out these open-ended Vocabulary Activity Pages! Printable & no print formats are both included.
Building vocabulary is directly related to reading comprehension. If learners don’t understand words or know how to figure out the meaning of unknown words, their comprehension of texts can greatly suffer.
We want to arm our learners with the tools they need to tackle the meaning of unknown words.
Vocabulary Activity Pages
A great place to start teaching vocabulary is with synonyms, antonyms, homophones, and homographs.
- Synonyms are words that mean about the same thing such as happy and glad.
- Antonyms are words that mean the opposite such as happy and sad.
- Homophones are words that sound the same, but often have different meanings and spellings. Examples: night and knight.
- Homographs are words that have the same spelling, but often a different meaning. Example: tear, as in tear paper vs. tears of joy

This pack has open-ended activity pages for all four kinds of words mentioned above. The pages require learners to interact with the words by drawing their meanings and/or writing sentences using the different meanings of the words.

Another great tool to teach learners is how to understand the meaning of unknown words by using context clues. This pack has a few resources to help younger learners {1st-2nd grade} as well as older learners {3rd grade and up} understand how to use context clues.

Also included in this resource pack are some new word activity pages. Three options are included so you can differentiate with your learners.
