Description
Check out our DIGITAL CVC-CVCe Spell in the Blank resource for Google Drive AND Seesaw!
Your learners don’t need a stash of color-coded magnetic letters {vowel red, consonants blue} or a magnetic cookie sheet to spell words with short vowels and long vowels with the CVCe pattern. That’s what you can use this resource for!
TWO Levels of Learning are Included:
Level 1: Short Vowels* vs. CVCe Vowel Words within the same vowel.
For example, -at words are compared to -ate words. In Level 1,
- 12 slides for a/a_e
- 2 slides for e/e_e
- 12 slides for i/i_e
- 10 slides for o/o_e
- 5 slides for u/u_e
Level 2: Short Vowels vs. CVCe Vowel Words with different vowels.
For example, on the same slide you might find -at, -ot, -ate, and -ote words. There are 14 slides total in Level 2:
- short & long a/o vowels (2 slides)
- short & long a/i vowels (2 slides)
- short & long i/u vowels (2 slides)
- short & long a/u vowels (2 slides)
- short & long i/o vowels (2 slides)
- short & long e/o vowels (2 slides)
- short & long o/u vowels (2 slides)
The activities are great for phonemic awareness because they get learners to single out and listen for vowel phonemes {or sounds} in words.
*The title of these activities says, “CVC,” but the short vowels go beyond just CVC to include short vowel words with blends and digraphs.

Seesaw – There are TEN activity links in this file. They are in shorter files, so they fit within Seesaw’s limitations and don’t overwhelm learners. If you’re unsure, you can follow the directions in my Seesaw tutorial to assign the activities.
